Please note that all adaptor-cables and all cheap USB-to-Parallel adaptors-converters will not support the Sentinel dongles even if they can be used for printing, as they do not provide a "physical address" (i.e. 378) within Windows; in fact, they only use a virtual driver for printing purposes only due to a limitation on the USB interface. Therefore, the Rainbow Sentinel drivers can not communicate with the hardware keys while the connection seems to work perfectly if used for connecting a printer.

In order to add a Parallel port the only cheap solution is to add a PCI card with a fully-compliant IEE 1284 ECP/EPP parallel port, but of course this is not feasible on laptop.

On laptops, the only solution is to abandon the USB port and use instead a parallel card in the PCMCIA bus or in the Express bus, depending on Your computer.

But again pay attention: cheap cards (for examples, ST-Lab 1 Port Parallel and others in the 5 to 40 Euros price range) again relay on a virtual driver for printing purposes only and do not offer true physical address.
The only solution in a laptop is to use the more expensive parallel cards for PCMCIA or Express bus with true physical address in the price range of 80 to 150 Euros, like for instance the Quatech SPP-100 (for PCMCIA, see details at www.quatech.com) or the Quatech SPPXP-100 (for Express, see details at www.quatech.com) or the Sunix CBP0020 (for PCMCIA, see details at www.sunix.com.tw). These cards have been tested by Lista Studio in several laptops with Windows XP and Vista (both at 32 bit) with positive results, and of course other models with same specifications should work.
